Kameya Japan Tradition - COFIL Ceramic Coffee Filter
This ceramic COFIL coffee filter brings a touch of Japanese elegance to your daily brew. No paper filter is neededâits porous ceramic structure contains thousands of 50âmicron holes (about the diameter of a hair) that allow water through while holding back grounds and filtering out chlorine, hardâwater, and chemical odors.
These slightly larger pores also let the natural oils from coffee beans through, resulting in a richer, more flavorful cup.
To use, choose a mediumâcoarse to coarse grind. Set the filter and server over your cup, then add coffee grounds. Pour hot water to just cover the grounds and let them bloom for about 30 seconds. Then, slowly add water in a circular motion, being careful not to let the grounds form a âdonutââthis ensures even extraction. Once your brew reaches the desired volume, remove the filter and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. You can also use the COFIL filter to mellow teas or spirits like sake and whiskey.
The COFIL filter features a unique Lotus Effect. Crafted from a clay blend of alumina and feldspar, skilled artisans create a subtly uneven surface during firing. This microscopic texture repels oils and particles, preventing clogging and promoting smooth flow.
Caring for your COFIL is easy: rinse it thoroughly after use, then occasionally boil itâplain or with 1â3 tablespoons of baking soda per literâto remove coffee oil residue and restore flow. Always dissolve the baking soda in cool water first and boil in a stainless steel pot, never aluminum.
Important note: This product is one of a kind. Slight variations in shape, color, or pattern are inherent to the handcrafted process. We kindly ask for your understanding of these natural variations before making a purchase.
