SEIKO Astron SBXC153 Solar-Powered Watch

The SBXC153 is equipped with the newly developed Caliber 5X83, a next-generation GPS Solar movement that combines advanced functionality with high-speed performance. In addition to a dual time display, the new caliber introduces a 1/20-second chronograph, offering enhanced versatility for global travelers and professionals.

The sub-dial at 12 o’clock measures 1/20-second stopwatch timing, while the 6 o’clock sub-dial normally displays a second time zone and automatically switches to a chronograph hour/minute totalizer during stopwatch operation. At 9 o’clock, a multi-indicator hand displays multiple statuses, including day of the week, airplane mode (GPS reception ON/OFF), power reserve, and chronograph mode—allowing clear, intuitive operation at a glance.

Compared with previous models, Caliber 5X83 significantly reduces the time required for Time Transfer, the function that instantly swaps the home time and second time zone with a simple button press. Improved charging efficiency also enables the use of a high-contrast, premium dial, enhancing both legibility and luxury appeal.

The regular model features a contrast-colored dial, differentiating the base dial from the sub-dials for a dynamic, modern look. A dual-material bezel made of ceramic and titanium, engraved with Arabic numerals and the word “CHRONOGRAPH,” reinforces the watch’s sporty character. The low center-of-gravity titanium case ensures excellent comfort on the wrist, while the dual-curved sapphire crystal with Super Clear Coating delivers outstanding visibility from every angle.
